United Way Impact
How do we know United Way is really making an impact in our community?
Each United Way agency is required to report on the number of individuals and families served each year. In 2007, more than 64,000 people locally were touched directly by United Way.
Here are just a few examples of the impact of United Way in Stillwater:
- Mobile Meals served 24,612 meals last year to nearly 175 individuals who are elderly or recovering from hospitalization
- Domestic Violence served more than 3,400 men, women and children despite a $90,000 loss of state funding.
- Starting Point 2 made a big difference in the lives of 256 men and women in the Stillwater area who are fighting alcoholism, one of the nation's most difficult public health issues. Starting Point 2 won the Bennett Basore Award for planning efforts to expand the effectiveness of their programs.
- The Community Health Center leveraged a $54,000 United Way Allocation into more than $1-million in health care, dentistry, prescriptions and eye exams for 5,050 medically underserved individuals. Every donated dollar is multiplied by the volunteer hours of local doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
